This book attempts to tell some of its background and in particular the story of the Dodd family and their ancestors. It goes back to a time long before they came to Steep and extends to the present. Some of their story has much in common with a tale from Dickens. The history and activities of the pub are traced through more than ninety years of continuous occupation by this one remarkable family.
